The ladies of the White Pine UMW (United Methodist Women) are an active group of women who meet the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 for a snack, fellowship, and meeting. Anyone from the community is invited to belong and to use their gifts and talents to serve others.

 

It is our goal as United Methodist Women to love and serve our Lord, Jesus Christ, by helping to provide for those in need at the local, national, and worldwide levels.

 

In order to fund our mission projects, we raise money through our annual pasty sale, Christmas and spring bazaars, sales from our Rada Cutlery, greeting cards, Spiff cloths, Christmas gift wrapping and the Friendship Tea. 

 

The money that we raise has been used recently to further the mission of the following organizations:

 

• Campus Crusade for Christ

• The Detroit Conference

• St. Nicholas Project

• Salvation Army

• AOH Foundation

• Good Neighbor Fund at the White Pine UMC

• Ontonagon County Cancer Association

• Flint Water Crisis

• Youth With a Mission

• Updates at the church:  roof, windows, sidewalk

 

The activities we organize or are involved in are:

• Second Sunday Monthly Breakfast

• Raffle basket for Snowburst at the Porcupine Mtn. Ski Hill

• Ash Wednesday Simple Soup Supper

• Friendship Tea

• Easter Breakfast

• Women of Faith Spring Dinner

• Cake Walk for the White Pine Fourth of July Celebration

• Vacation Bible School

• Backpack and School Supplies Mission for local children

• VBS Program/Camp Michigamme Fund Raiser and Church Picnic

• Christian Kids’ Club/Confirmation Class

• Worship on the Mountain at the Porcupine Mtn. Ski Hill

• Bears and Blankets Mission for 2 local shelters for women and children

• Scholastic Book Fair purchases for the St. Nicholas Project

• Christmas Food Baskets and Bags for local residents

• Christmas at the Mall

• Free Christmas gift wrapping

 

God has blessed this church and community with ladies of many talents to carry out his plan for us to serve others.  We pray that He will continue to provide us with strength to be successful in this mission.

 

The Book of Discipline states:  “The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons, through Jesus Christ: to develop a creative, supportive fellowship: and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.”
